Hello, out there. Welcome to my first post for my [adultswim] blog. I'm an animator and designer who has been involved with [adultswim] since it's inception, employed by the guys at Williams Street. I'll be posting whatever art I can find at my studio that has anything to do with [adultswim]. I'd especially like to showcase sketchbook art and concepts, stuff you'll never see in the final movies. I hope you find it interesting.

Here's some stuff from The Brak Show:

This is an early version of Brak's Dad taken from my long-gone sketchbook, lost or possibly stolen (you know if you can't find it, it's stolen...?) sometime around 2001. Pete Smith, one of the hilarious writers of the show, who originally hired me, asked me to make him thinner and lose the pipe.

Although I don't have the original, full-body sketches, I do have this page of the very first attempts at Brak's Mom. As you can see, the lower left one got picked. (You might've seen some of these already, either on the [adult swim] site in the early sketches section, or the DVD's, but keep coming back and there will be many never-before-seen postings! Just wanted to start at the beginning...)

Now some stuff from Aqua Teen Hunger Force:

Carl - My all-time favorite character that I've designed. This is pretty much exactly how I first drew him minus one thing, the mustache. Unfortunately I lost the original that was in my sketchbook. I've got a bunch of Carl stuff I'm going to post over the course of this blog.

Dr. Weird's model sheet. Didn't know he had one? This design was based on a character already invented from what I'm guessing was some old Hannah-Barbera cartoon. I'm sorry, that's all I can remember. We ended up sticking a "W" on his chest, exposing his nipples, and lengthening his hair, oh, and adding the air-tank for his head. He is Dr. Weird after all. His final main pose was taken from this sketch:

I think I shrunk his head down 5% from what is shown here...

Check out these early drawings of Steve. You can tell they went with the upper left one. Then I drew the main key sometime later:

As you can see, this drawing from my long-lost sketchbook went straight into the show, as is. "Uhhh...Dr.Weird...."

Master Shake - My second favorite character that I've ever designed. If you take off the nose on the one with the cape, and also lose the cape and belt, that's pretty much Shake.

They didn't choose my design of Meatwad or Frylock (that would be credited to C. Martin Croker, a masterful illustrator as well as the voices of Dr. Weird, Steve, Zorak, and countless others.) but I did work on the development, and always liked this sketch.
